How do I
chat
|
As soon as
you have joined you can start chatting with other
members. Simply click on the chat tab on the menu
and chat will open in a new window. You will be
shown a selection of rooms to choose from, and must
agree to abide my the rules of the chat room before
entering. To end your chat session, you MUST log out
of the chat room by clicking on the link. If you
simply close the window you will have to wait until
your username is timed out before you can re-enter
the chat room.

You are
kindly asked to review the terms and conditions for
acceptable behaviour in chat. Please be respectful
and polite to all members. We will not enter into
personal disputes, and where trouble may arise
please report it to us. It is common place to ask a
member in the main chat room if you can private
message them before doing so. It is also good
manners to view their profile before asking other
members obvious questions that they have answered in
their profile.

To private
message another user, double click on their username
in the username list. This will open a private chat
message window between you and them. Please remember
to ask other members in the main chatroom if you can
private message them before doing so.

Click on the
word `rooms` at the bottom of the user list. This
will open a list of the other rooms available. Click
on the room you want to go to, then click on `Go To
Room` at bottom of list of rooms.

If your
username is in use you have probably exited chat
without logging out. If you close the chat window
and do not click the log out button you will have to
wait until your username has timed out before you
can re-enter chat. Even if you log out you will not
be able to re-enter.

|
Right click
on the username of the person whose profile you want
to view, and select `view profile` The member`s
profile will pop up in a new window.
|
|
|
If you click
on the username and select `view profile` and the
profile doesn`t pop-up in a new window, you have to
turn your pop-up blocker off or hold the CTRL key
down on your keyboard while clicking on `view
profile`.

|
|
The chat
room is a standard Java applet. The first time you
go into the chatroom it downloads the java applet
for you. This may take a couple of minutes, but once
downloaded future access will be almost instant. If
you just get grey boxes and cannot see any chat
activity it may be because your java is too old. You
can upgrade your java by going to
http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
and following the steps on screen.

Video chat
is a unique feature that allows you to chat with
other members via your webcams. If you do not have a
webcam you can still enter the video chat room and
view or listen. Video chat is only available to
premium members, if you cannot see video chat you
will need to upgrade to gain access.
|
|
|
Please
ensure that your webcam and mic are plugged in and
fully working in as instructed in your device
handbooks, if you wish to communicate via them in
the video chat room. Please click on the video chat
tab on the menu bar. This will open the video chat
window. Follow the on-screen prompts to start video
chatting!

Select the
“Chat” button in the panel menu.
Click on "Let me in to video chat!" in the
pop-up window.
When entering you have an option either to allow or
deny video chat to access your camera and
microphone. Choose either one to proceed.

In video
chat you will be offered a list of rooms. After
logging in you are taken automatically to the main
room (The Hub). To join any other room:
1. Select the room you want to join
2. Click on the “Join room” button
If you are currently being logged in to any room
except The Hub (BDSM, for instance) and want to
enter another room (ex: Bi Fems) you have first to
get back to The Hub (Choose “Back to Hub”) and then
repeat the steps 1 and 2.

You may
create your own room in video chat and invite there
other members for private communication.
1. Choose “Create Room”
2. Fill out the fields in the pop-up window (name of
the room, description and password). The password
should not be the one you use to log in to the
website. You may enter any sequence of characters as
a password.
3. Choose “Create It” if you want to continue or
“Cancel” if you don’t want to create the room.
4. Then send the password to the members you want to
invite to your room.

You may
receive video and audio only from one user at the
same time although you are able to simultaneously
message to all the users in the same chat room.
|
|
|
Yes, you can
send and receive private messages that nobody will
see but you and the person you are talking to. For
this purpose select the user you want to talk with
privately and type your message in the left white
field under the list of users. The messages you send
and receive this way will be visible only on your
and your interlocutor’s computers.
You may want to have private conversations with
different users simultaneously during one video chat
session. It is possible however every time you send
a private message don’t forget to select a certain
user to whom the message is intended.
Unfortunately you cannot insert emotional pictures
there automatically simply by clicking on them. If
you want to show emotions you may either type them
manually, ex: :), or just copy-paste.

Yes. To view
someone’s profile select a member and click on the
“View profile” button under the list of members.
If you click on the username and select “view
profile” and the profile doesn’t pop-up in a new
window, you have to turn your pop-up blocker off or
hold the CTRL key down on your keyboard while
clicking on “view profile”.

You may
block any user you don’t want to receive messages
from. Select a user you want to block and click on
the “Block/ Unblock user” button. To unblock this
user select his/her username and click on “Block/
Unblock user” again.

How do I use
my webcam and microphone |
When
entering video chat you will be given an option
either to allow or deny video chat to access your
camera and microphone. Choose “Allow”.
If you want to receive video/audio from any user
simply click on his/her username and you will be
able to see this user in the user’s video box on the
top as well as hear him/her in your headphones.
If you want to stop receiving video/audio
from any user click on the “camera” and/or
“microphone” icons respectively in the user’s video
box. A red sign will appear to show that video/audio
stream is stopped. Click on the icons again to
continue viewing/ hearing this user. To stop
sending video/audio repeat the same steps in
your own video box.
